Calling All Ideas; News from the Field….

While it is always exciting to offer ideas and to see my books used as springboards for literacy activities, my travels to schools, libraries, bookstores, and conferences have left me equally impressed by your creative ideas. I can only imagine how gratifying and stimulating it would be to share our successes, strategies, projects and literary celebrations. On that note, I invite you to help launch my first ever “blog.”  What works in your home, classroom, or library to excite and stimulate your readers? Is there a particular area you need some extra help with? Post your thoughts, questions, musings, dog bone recipes, and more as we join together as  a community of teachers, learners, and story lovers to support and celebrate literacy. Let the dialogue begin……

Hello everyone! I must admit I’m not such a terrific blogger…yet! I’ve been busy working on many new projects, answering lots of letters, and reading the many great stories your young writers send. They are delightful. And yes, lots of travel too….
One thing that I always like to tell our young readers and writers is that the more I think about it, I am certain that I am a writer because I have always been a reader. Reading stories we love, inspires us to write our own. Please stay tuned to the site for new updates…I promise to be more diligent about “blogging!” Many thanks to all of you for your continued support.
      Best wishes and woofs,
      Alyssa

    Hello Alyssa:

It’s been a month since I wrote. That went fast! I hope you and your family are well. My first teacher’s meeting of the year is August 11th. Too soon, but I can’t wait to get back with the kids. Let me know how things are going.

    Alyssa:

Have a great 4th! I hope you and your family are doing well! How is your summer going? I am doing a book club on Tom Sawyer (Natalie and 8 of her friends), this is the third year! We just painted, (whitewashed) a fence today! All the girls in the book club volunteered and we got the job done. It was a good feeling. On to the cemetery next week…

    Talk to you soon!

We have been enjoying Biscuit stories all year! They have been writing their own “versions” of Biscuit stories too. We have put their stories into a a class newspaper titled, “Biscuit’s Surprising News!”. You wouldn’t believe all the adventures Biscuit has been on! We would love to share our stories with you. I have your mailing address and we’ll send them out shortly. Thank you for writing such wonderful books and inspiring our young readers and writers.

    Hello Alyssa:

I am glad you are back from traveling. Well, the school year is almost at an end. My students will be on their way for another year! Maybe we can launch a project for the young readers to do and have them submit it to your blog with pictures. Surrounding Biscuit and/or Katy Duck. Sometimes an idea or initial assistance helps children get their creative “juices” flowing. Talk to you soon and I will add you to my blogs to follow. Talk to you soon!
